Guns N’ Roses guitarist Richard Fortus told Stage Left podcast the band had been engaging in some early preproduction work. Fortus spoke of the recently reunited members “recording a lot of stuff” and “assembling ideas”.

With the groundbreaking reunion of several former members, most of us are and should be expecting a follow-up to the 2008 Chinese Democracy. If the band continues to get along, I see no reason why they wouldn’t do a new album. It’s been over two decades since they’ve been in the studio together, and to not capitalize off this reunion would be asinine.

Regardless, there’s no need to hold your breath, as Axl is well-known to work on his own timeline and the Not in This Lifetime Tour will not be over until late this year. Additionally, Fortus said the band was recording “just ideas.. but not going into the studio and actually tracking a new record.”

It’s a pretty safe bet that there’ll be a new Guns N Roses album, but don’t expect it to be here anytime soon. “All we need is just a little patience,” and surely we’ll have another album by one of the greatest rock ‘n roll bands of all time!
